Happy New Year everyone! Tamara here. It’s hard to believe that New Year celebrations were completely different just last year. New Year countdowns, catching up with friends and travelling during winter vacation were all gone in 2020. Parties and countdowns went online and travelling became staycations. It was pretty much the same for me. Because of this, I suddenly had more time for myself. I spent my time learning how to make some Japanese dishes and reading non-fiction books. I also...

Hello everyone! Tamara here. I went to Kyoto last Sunday to meet up with my friend, and we walked around Kyoto to look at plum (梅) blossoms. We went to the gardens in the Kyoto Imperial Palace Grounds. Because of the travel bans and the coronavirus, Kyoto had much less people than usual on a nice Sunday afternoon.

Hello everybody! Maria here. How are you doing? It’s winter now, and it means the best season for visiting an onsen, or a hot spring, has come. Here in Kobe we are very lucky to have Arima Onsen, one of the oldest hot springs in the country, just on the other side of the mountains. So just after the New Year I decided to go there. Hello everyone! Tamara here. I just got back from a two-week vacation in Toronto, Canada. I went to my mom’s wedding and did some sightseeing too. The direct flight from Tokyo to Toronto took around 12 hours! I felt like I flew halfway across the world. Toronto is a very interesting city because there are so many different kinds of people! Whenever I went around the city, I could see people from different countries and hear different languages.

Hi everyone, Mae here. I hope you all had a well-spent Obon week and summer vacation. I`ve spent most of my Obon holiday swimming at Suma and Asagiri beach. And last week, I had a wonderful time in the lovely onsen town of Kinosaki!
