Our useful phrase for today is " next to nothing."
When there is a very small amount of something, very little, almost nothing, you can say it is next to nothing.
It is very often used about money or when you want to say that something is extremely cheap.
A: How was your Thailand trip?
B: Oh, it was great! I loved Thai food. It is very delicious and cost next to nothing.
A: Hey, how did your team’s presentation go?
B: It was ok, but Tanaka-san who did next to nothing for the project got all the praise from our boss. I’m so angry right now!
My boyfriend is so annoying! He knows next to nothing about cooking, but keeps telling me what to do when I’m making food.
