Last Sunday I went to Fushimi Inari shrine in Kyoto with two of my friends. The last time I had been there was when I was an exchange student 8 years ago. So at first my biggest surprise was the amount of people!!
The shrine is so big though that, after walking a little way up the mountain it was much less crowded, and we could enjoy the peaceful atmosphere walking in the long tunnels of red gates. I think it took us about one hour to reach the top, and the view over Kyoto city was amazing! The weather was so nice and sunny that I even got a little sunburnt... On our way back down, we stopped off at a tiny restaurant, with lovely views of the forest. We ate cold soba noodles, and of course inari sushi!
Visiting Kyoto with all it's history and culture is always an amazing experience. And it's great to see that people from all over the world are enjoying it too! Next time you go sightseeing there, I'd love to hear all about it in our lesson!
